Health Activities :
Since the year 1987, NASEOH has been engaged in prevention of,
- Communicable diseases leading to disabilities such as polio, blindness, hearing impairment and mental retardation.
- Correct the disabilities through corrective surgeries.
- Arrest the disabilities.
- Organizing awareness programme at community, school levels on various health related issues and management of disabilities.
Mrs. Gulestan Billimoria and Dr. R.B. Billimoria Department of Prevention and Community Education is supported by :
Team consists of Orthopedic surgeon, pediatrics, gynecologist, social worker, community health volunteer and physiotherapist.
Services Provided :
- Regular health check up both in-house and ex community.
- Immunization against communicable diseases.
- Nutritional supplement.
- Dispensing medicines.
- Referral services.
- Organizing community and school based health awareness programmes through exhibition, street plays.
- Net working with other services like Health Deptt,of Bombay Municipal Corporation, Cancer Hospital, Leprosy foundation, Tuberculosis hospitals, HIV aids society.
Physical Restorative Services :
Majority of locomotor disabled require mobility aids to overcome their physical problems. On account of their disabilities, NASEOH has been able to distribute Hand-driven triwheeler, wheel chair, Orthotic & prosthetic aids and also low cost hearing aids to Hearing impaired people.
All mobility aids are supplied by the welding & fabrication unit attached to Vocational Training Centre of NASEOH, at the recommendation of orthopedic surgeon. NASEOH besides providing mobility aids to the students attending the training center, but also reaches out to the disabled living in rural areas.
Since the distribution is done free of cost to the needy and socio economically poor people, financial supports come from individual donors, companies, service clubs and trusts. |
